Hairspray is Golden-Globe nominated  remake from the 1988 film with same name and the stage Brodway musical in 2002 with same name.Set in 1962 Baltimore, Maryland (U.S.A.) the film follows a "pleasantly plump" teen named Tracy Turnblad as she simultaneously pursues stardom as a dancer on a local TV show and rallies against racial segregation.The film features songs from the Brodway musical written by Marc Schaiman and Scott Witman, as well as four new Shaiman/Wittman compositions not present in the original Broadway version.

Opening to mostly positive reviews, Hairspray met with financial success, breaking the record for biggest sales at opening weekend for a movie musical, which was surspassed by Mamma Mia in July 2008.Hairspray went on to become the third highest grossing musical film in U.S. cinema history, behind the film adaptations of Grease and Chicago.

Small Synopsis: Pleasantly plump teenager Tracy Turnblad (Nikki Blonski) teaches 1962 Baltimore a thing or two about integration after landing a spot on a local TV dance show.

Zac Efron's role
Zac Efron is Link Larkin : Amber's (Brittany Snow) boyfriend and the lead male dancer on The Corny Collins Show, Link is a singer who slowly finds himself falling in love with Tracy (Main character - Nikki Blonski), who has always had an unrequited crush on him. The character is based in part upon rock and roll star Elvis Presley.
